Some numbers speak for themselves

I was putting together some PowerPoint slides for a lecture today, and found this combination of numbers, which pretty much speak for themselves:

- David Suzuki foundation estimates the Canadian government gives more than $1.4 billion in tax breaks and subsidies to oil, coal, and gas companies each year
- in fiscal year 2010-2011, the Ontario government invested $1.4 billion in capital expenditures for school buildings and infrastructure
- in the final three-month period of 2010, the tar sands company Suncor (merged with PetroCanada a few years back) earned a net profit of $1.3 billion
